| Description: |
The vessel Cloud Nine has sailed more miles than most sailors would dream. Most recently she made history as the first American flagged vessel to complete the Northwest passage. Prior to this, Cloud Nine circumnavigated three times, visiting the Antarctic and the Arctic Circle. Her owner Roger Swanson has received cruising awards worldwide for the 215,000 nautical miles he has sailed onboard. Cloud Nine is ready to sail absolutely anywhere. The features and layout of the vessel combined with nice lines and speed make her the ideal choice for serious cruising. She sleeps at least seven in comfort with two heads and a huge galley. |
| Equipment: |
The Bowman 57 was one of the largest sailing yachts designed by Holman and Pye. World renowned as a yacht designer, Kim Holman was known to say: "Never compromise or economize on the hull and deck." The Bowman 57 holds true to this directive, built without compromises.
The solid fiberglass hull was hand laid at Bowman Yachts in England. Cloud Nine draws an impressive Nine Feet with a modified fin keel. The rudder is hung from a full length skeg.
Cloud Nine features two cockpits on deck. The Center Cockpit has a hydraulic helm located forward and to starboard near the companionway for maximum shelter and free cockpit space. A steep seaworthy dodger protects the forward helm and companionway from spray. The centerline Aft Helm above the rudder provides a great perspective while sailing. The aft helm is cable rigged. An autopilot with remote allows for course adjustment elsewhere onboard. The aft cockpit has three sided lazarette storage. In the main cockpit, a large wood table sets up for outside meals.
Forward of the cockpits moving about the boat is easy with plenty to hold on to. Well maintained teak underfoot has excellent traction. Pulpits on either side of the mast
Cloud Nine is spacious inside offering privacy and community. The Main salon, Nav Station and Galley are close enough for conversation. The dining table seats eight and the galley can keep up with demand. The aft section of the boat offers a complete walk around with no low sections. From the companionway, the galley is to starboard laid out with a long counter top. The galley leads into the aft cabin which sleeps two and has wrap around bench seating. The Aft head has two doors for the aft cabin and port side crew quarters. Opposing berths in the crew quarters each have plenty of storage. These quarters lead directly into the salon on the port side where the navigation Station is located facing Aft.
