Description: |
One of the fastest boats of it's time, "Lois Lane", is a sailing machine!
Actual Condition While racing, the boat was forced to make some severe alterations of its course. The starboard side chain plate pulled up through the deck. The lack of stay support caused the mast to buckle, then bend in two and fail to leeward.
The crew was able to release stays and lines and jettison the mast and sails, which were lost. Among the damage: Starboard side bulkhead is displaced, Starboard side hull frame is broken in two and displaced from hull, two inside hull strakes pulled inward and debonded/torn from hull...please inspect carefully for further damage. |
