Reproduction boat of L. Francis Herreshoff’s Buzzard Bay 14 built by the Buzzards Bay Boat Shop in Falmouth, MA (www.buzzardsbayboatshop.com). LOA 17’9”, Beam 5’10”, Draft 2’6”, encapsulated full keel lead ballast 900 pounds, displacement 2000 pounds, Sail area 103 sq ft main, 35 sq ft jib • Hand laid fiberglass hull and deck • Dynel cloth on deck to give traditional canvas appearance • full teak work in cockpit and rear deck • Red Awlgrip hull finish with white bootstripe • Fresh ablative bottom coat spring 2012 • Custom removable brass motor bracket • 2010 Honda 2hp long (sail) shaft 4 stroke motor. Less than 10 total hours • Two complete set of original “red” sails to match hull color (on set is almost new condition) • Forward storage compartment and under seat storage • Built in (under seat) pump bailer • Original tan canvas cockpit cover and sail cover in excellent condition • Mast, boom, rigging all in excellent condition (very little use) • All heavy brass hardware used • Painted flat black steel trailer custom built for this specific boat. (I am currently bringing trailer up to date with fresh paint, lights, tires, etc This boat was purchased by a former neighbor of mine in 1993 from the Buzzards Bay Shop. It was used lightly only two seasons and subsequently stored until I purchased it from the estate in 2010. If you are looking for a daysailer with beautiful classic lines and teak work without the wood hull upkeep issues then this boat is ideal. People always stop by to praise this vessel. Very stable sailing characteristics (the solid full length lead keel combined with modest sail area means she will easily handle any stiff breeze and point nicely).
