1990 Island Packet 38 – Hull #134 FOR SALE $99,900.00.
A cutter rigged, shoal draft (4’) cruiser was designed to take advantage of the tropical trade winds and shallower waters of the Caribbean and other world cruising hot spots.
Aboard you’ll find two large staterooms with private heads. The forward stateroom has a Tecma, electric flush toilet while the aft stateroom head is manual. She holds 157 gallons of fresh water and 57 gallons of diesel for the fuel stingy (.5 gal per hour) 44 HP Yanmar engine. She had three brand new AGM batteries on two switchable banks: starter and house. Length overall is approx. 44ft from the bow pulpit to the swim platform; beam is 12’ 8”.
Displacement is 21,500 lbs., ballast is 10,000 lbs in the full foil keel with heal strap (no worries about crab or lobster traps catching in the prop).
This ship can sleep 7 adults in comfort below. The cockpit has a full dodger with port and starboard - oak - line handler bars and a bimini with filler panel to complete the overhead protection from rain or sun. |
| Equipment: |
She is equipped with auto pilot, Datamarine and Raymarine chartplotter, wind, depth and speed instruments; as well as a full power Rayathon Radar array. All easily accessed from the navigation station below with repeaters to the cockpit. The high capacity Balmar alternator keeps the batteries up when on the engine and two independent shore power circuits (one for ships power; the other for heat/ac) provides for the battery charger when at the dock. Also included is a 1500 watt inverter, micro wave, color flat panel TV; TV Antenna when you are on the hook or don’t have cable. Sails are flaked with a Dutchman system and both head sails are roller furling for quick and easy maneuvering.
The center board was removed for shallow water sailing. A new centerboard can be obtained from the IP factory for about $2500.00.
There is a hinged door with interchangeable panels (smoke, white, screen) as well as the original hatch boards for heavy weather. Two perch seats on the port and starboard aft corners are considered by many to be the “Best Seats in the House!”. There are two anchors, a plow and Fortress. The Fortress is on an electric windlass controlled from a foot switch at the bow and another from the cockpit.
The engine, transmission and drive train have been professionally maintained with new motor mounts two years ago. One super feature is the Autoprop: a self reversing propeller that virtually ends “prop walk” when in reverse.
The galley has ample refrigerated space for long cruises; a three burner propane stove (two tanks stored in a molded in exterior locker) and lots of counter space, sink and storage. There is hot and cold pressure water at the galley, in both heads and showers as well as an outside hand held shower that leads to the swim platform for a warm rinse after a swim. Attached to the swim platform is a custom swim ladder that makes getting back on board a dream.
Of course it comes with a full Coast Guard safety package, PFD’s, owner’s manual, as well as manuals and books on almost all systems and gear. |
