Description: ATTENTION BLUE WATER SAILORS!

Announcing the availability of a CATALAC 41 - also designated the Catalac 12M. Only 27 were manufactured, approximately 14 of which are home ported in the Western Hemisphere.

Hull #2 is in play:

The number one criterion for any bluewater vessel – mono or multihulled – is STABILITY. If any vessel can keep you and yours safe mid-ocean, it is the Catalac 41. A Catalac 41 was one of the survivors of the infamous “Queen’s Birthday” storm of early June 1994 which resulted in loss of life, dismasting and knockdowns/capsizes by a substantial number of other vessels between New Zealand and Tonga/Fiji. It was one of the vessels still seaworthy at gales’ end.

One of the most threatening situations at sea is encountering overwhelming gusts when your guard is down at night – crew asleep below and there is no time to reef the canvas. This problem doesn’t exist for the very forgiving Catalac 41. The builder had a standing bet of 10000£ (British Pounds) to anyone who could document getting a Catalac hull out of the water: the bet never required payment. A blow that would result in a knockdown of another vessel simply moves this vessel sideways. A Catalac sailing offwind in 30-40 knot wind still allows you to walk around comfortably with a cup of coffee-look outside and you’ll observe monohulls heeled at 35 degrees with decks and stanchions awash. This boat is very suitable for families and others wishing to cruise in worry-free comfort.

A noteworthy feature of the Catalac 41 is its dual helm. In addition to the weather helm, a second helm is located aft of the saloon where one can enjoy a cup of coffee without salt spray seasoning it. Although much can be said for using the weather helm in balmy climes to enjoy the sun and stars, its appeal fades quickly when the hours in foul weather mount.

Headroom in wheelhouse, saloon and hulls is 6’5”. If you’d like to avoid long hours leaning steadily or suddenly, cooking with one hand while anchoring with the other,
