Description: Movin’ On, a 1976 Tartan TOCK (Tartan Offshore Cruising Ketch hull #20 of 30) and a Sparkman and Stephens design, is a proven and worthy passage boat. Her design purpose was to take a live aboard couple anywhere in the world they want to go. She has a sea-kindly motion and makes swift work of long passages. She is easily capable of 150 nm per day and 180 or more is not uncommon. Her Ketch sail plan gives the short handed voyagers ample options when the weather starts to turn. Equip with the infamous 80 hp Ford Lehman diesel (a true 20,000 hr engine) coupled to a Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission and a Max-Prop gives her the power to push through the tough stuff and a cruise speed of 6.5-7 knots sipping only a gallon per hour @ 1,500 rpm.
On deck she has deep bulwarks forward, a center cockpit further forward then most and a huge 22’x13’ flush aft deck. Tartan used to advertise the aft deck as the dance floor. The main mast is keel stepped while the mizzen mast is deck stepped. Single life lines atop the deep bulwark bow are followed aft by double lifelines on the flush deck. This is a wide, moderately heavy, stable and comfortable boat.
From the cockpit there are two companion ways. The forward leads to the Master Stateroom and the aft to the Great Salon. The deck sports (3) 24”x24” opening hatches, (3) Dorade vents and 14 opening ports throughout. She is equipped with (2) new (2013) Lewmar 46 primary winches, (1) new (2013) Lewmar 30 mainsheet winch, an original halyard winch on the main mast, a halyard winch on the mizzen mast and a reefing winch on the main boom. She utilizes end boom sheeting to keep the load from the full batten main (2012) easy to handle. She has a Hyde Staystream One roller furler for the genoa. This unit is bulletproof and is still in production today.
Down below and starting forward there is a very large single cabin in the bow. This cabin has primary access from the forward hatch on the bow. Just ahead of the berth is an anchor locker. There is an inoperable head located in this berth.
