Arasheena was built at the Nanaimo Shipyard for Captain Bert Davis, formerly the Captain of the Gabriola Ferry until the government took over the run in the early sixties. It was his retirement dream to sail around the world. Arasheena is truly a dream boat. 'Ara' mean beautiful and 'Sheena' is Gaelic for Jean... beautiful Jean. Berts wife's name was Jean.
The Arasheena is a 59' sailing ketch rigged motor sailor of great character, built for comfort and safety and weighs in at fifty tons launched in . She sleeps six and if the settees are made up into berths, can accommodate thirteen people. Arasheena is very spacious, with a large aft deckhouse or stern-castle which provides lots of warm comfortable seating with all-around visability and protection from all weather cruising. She has a large aft cabin with queen size berth, storage and head. The spacious galley is forward, then two double berths with single upper berths, head and large shower.
She can carry a maximum of forty people on a day trip. The galley is fully equipped for hearty seagoing meals. The forward deck features a dining table, hot tub and there is plenty of room for kayak storage on the roof and railings.

59 FT. Ketch, S.V. “Arasheena” has been our wonderful waterfront home for about 7 years. This ship has given us many wonderful memories and lacks nothing with over 700 square feet of living space to play in.
Soak in the 4 man hot tub on the foredeck each evening watching the starlit skies then enjoy the Stern Castle living room with its hand painted underwater scenes. Do you enjoy cooking? The large galley has its own specially designed wood butcher block style counter top which is great for preparing those meals or even baking bread. Each morning enjoy your coffee/tea at the specially designed granite bar.
Whether you’re amid small islands or sailing to Mexico you will feel confident that this vessel was built to get you there safely.
I could say many great things about the vessel but you should see it for yourself.
