Description: From time to time a really nice boat comes along . . . one that offers a well-respected design, fine sailing characteristics and a history of meticulous maintenance. Such a boat is the this Bristol 53.3. These heavy displacement cruisers enjoy a sterling reputation for their construction and outstanding sailing characteristics. Rarely do they come on the market . . . and rarer still are the aft-cockpit models Bristol Boat Company of Bristol, Rhode Island, built a sizeable number of these 51 / 53 foot cruisers, most of which were produced in the better known center- cockpit models. This particular boat is an aft-cockpit design which is stunning to look at . . . and still offers three private sleeping cabins. The interior is finished in teak with the lighter-colored varnish finish . . . with the optional louvered locker door fronts throughout. She has received the best of care from her owners. The maintenance has always been first-rate. In 2001 she received new teak decks by Bachelor Point Yacht Company in Oxford, MD, and in 2012 the decks were completely refurbished with their first light sanding. This 53.3 had all the Bristol options when she was commissioned in 1990. She was delivered with electric primary winches, a Hood electric Stoway main, an 8KW Westerbeke generator, varnished teak interior joinery and reverse cycle heat and air conditioning. Plus she'll clear a 65' bridge along the ICW. She is finished with Flag Blue Awlgrip (2010), the topside varnish is fresh (work done at Hinckley SW Harbor, ME, Aug. 2012), and the Hood-inspired shearline is just about dead-solid perfect!
