Nice little racer from the days of IOR, designed by renowned Gary Mull, fast comfy easy to sail little boat.
The Ranger 22 represents one of Gary Mull's finest designs. The boat was designed to meet the racing needs of the small keel-boat racers of the late 70's and early 80's, and to this day, the boat remains a tough competitor. While the fleet of over 300 hulls has spread out over the country, one design fleets are for the most part non-existent. However, with a base rating of 222, they make excellent PHRF racers for today's auxiliary fleets.
Goes upwind like crazy, downwind awesome with a spinnaker.
Always dry-sailed, the longest it stayed in the water was 5 days. Needs a little TLC and a couple of DIY fiberglass repairs that do not impede it sailing. Paint is oxidized. |

Sails: Two Dacron mainsails, one North in fair condition, and one JSI in good condition, two jibs dacron, 110% and 135%, in good condition, one genoa kevlar 155% in fair condition. Two spinnakers crosscut, in good condition, no rips a couple of stains. Fractional deck stepped aluminum mast and SS rigging, adjustable backstay with all running and standing rigging in good condition, new spreaders. Boom Vang, Cunningham, flatening reef and outhaul lines.
Lifting wire attached to keelbolts built as per original Gary Mulls design, works like a charm.
Lots of additional equipment that I never got around to installing, Auto Battery charger, Selector switch, running navigation lights, needs to be rewired.
New bulkhead compass (not installed)Plastimo Mini Contest.
Tandem axle trailer rusty and not for highway use, good enough for the use I gave it at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.
Porta Potty never used.
5HP Mercury runs fine hasn't been used in over a year, used Sta-Bil before putting away but might need a carb cleaning. |
