Callipygian (Calli) is an extraordinary 1975 Contest 36 auxiliary sailboat, expertly sailed primarily in New England, on "the Sound" for over twenty years. Calli's experienced Norwegian Captain has moved onto his next Captain-ship, beyond, due to a prolonged physical illness. This classic blue-water beauty is in the midst of a refit of her systems and is the perfect project boat that will get you anywhere in the world safely and in comfort.
Calli was designed by Dick Zaal and built by Conyplex B.V., hull #31. The hull design is a center cockpit with fin keel and full keg rudder. Construction material is fiberglass. The vessel is ketch rigged with aluminum masts, stainless steel standing rigging and rope running rigging. Sail inventory includes 7 sails: Main, Mizzen, Mizzen staysail, Genoa, Spinnaker, Jib, and Drifter. Auxiliary power recently upgraded with an engine refit. Beta Marine three-cylinder diesel engine secured to a rebuilt engine bed with less than 150 hours of run time.
Calli is unabashedly a project boat in the midst of her first refit. As an example: her wiring is partially complete with new instruments to be installed. Below deck you find spacious 6' 4" headroom, magnificent well maintained classic mahogany woodwork and cabinetry, throughout. Calli sleeps 4 in 2 staterooms, plus 2 dinette and 1 settee berth: total 7. Forward is a v-berth with head and a shower. Midship is the salon with dinette to port and settee to starboard. Aft of the dinette is the galley and across from the galley is a navigation station with seat. Galley: Fridge/Freezer ice box. Eno Mendoza 3 burner propane stove, oven, water heater, manual water system. The stove is gambled with pot hold down. Dutch tile splash trim behind the sink and large dry storage on board add to the Callis appeal. Calli, without a doubt is a safe, fun, blue water classic, meticulously captained for over 20 years. Calli is experienced and has proven that she could sail anywhere in the world, confidently and comfortably. |
