Equipped with 50 HP Mercury, 4 stroke, with electronic fuel injection outboard. Motor is very economical to run. Includes trailer and can be hauled behind standard size car.
Boat draws approximately 9” with board and motor up, so it is easy to come in close to shore for a walk on the beach or a picnic!. (The boat is also at home on the ocean along the Atlantic coast. We often sail out to Block Island and The Islands off Cape Cod. It is easy to launch off any ramp, Fresh or Salt water. We have done most of our sailing on Cape Cod, Narragansett Bay and Southern Rhode Island. There is an active boating association for “Trailer Sailors” in the North East which sponsors group cruises on the lakes and different coastal locations in New England. Great fishing platform. We have great fun towing the kids on a tube behind the boat.
This power-sailboat comes fully equipped with everything you need to cruise in style for weekends or longer. It also can double as a camping trailer during a trip! The boat has a water ballast system that holds 1,400 lbs of water, which you empty as you haul out the boat at the ramp, thus reducing weight during highway travel. It comes with main & jib sails plus 150% Genoa with roller furler, swimming ladder, electrical system, depth sounder, wheel steering, mast raising system for one person rigging, bimini sun top, battery operated porta potty (in private enclosure), and one great cabin with seats, interior lights, cooler, alcohol stove, eating table and room to sleep from 4 to 6 persons.
This boat is one of the best trailerable motor cruisers available. The Macgregor 26X is known for it's shallow water sailing ability and 18 plus mph hull speed when under power. You can imagine what a pleasure it is when the wind dies or for some reason you have to get home quickly, just lower the motor, drop the sails and power home at 15 to 18 mph (depends on how much weight you have on board). On “Land”she travels easily at 55 to 60 mph!! |
