| Description: |
Kalliope is a 1974 Challenger 40 staysail ketch-- Robert Perry designed, Howard Stern constructed. She is well-maintained, up-to-date and ready to go cruising immediately. Kalliope has circumnavigated the world as well as cruised the Eastern US coast and Bahamas. She is easy to singlehand, as all control lines (headsail, staysail, mainsail, mizzen) are cockpit rigged. A watertight bulkhead isolates the forward sail/anchor chain locker; makes a safer boat, keeps sails out of the living area and also houses the holding tank. All systems on Kalliope are well thought-out and nicely integrated. Kalliope is a bright, open boat, a comfortable place to be whether at anchor, at sea, or at the dock, as well as an exceptional, safe blue-water cruiser; she is fun to live in, as well as to sail. |
