Moana 1 is a proven offshore passage maker and maintained daily.
Built in Thorel Shipyard, St-Lambert de Levis, Quebec, in 1985 by Guy Deberteau.
Moana 1 is a Chatam 33 designed by Naval Architect Gilbert Karoff.
The hull is in steel for safety and durability.
Two inches of urethane foam insulation was added to the interior of the hull to make her a quiet,
comfortable in cold and hot weather.
The interior all solid teak was built by Gilles Bastien of St-Paul Ile aux Noix.
A true work of art.
Complete refit off all systems, in 2006 for her present voyage.
Moana 1 was repainted all in Guatemala in September 2011

New in 2011, with only 150 hours, she cruises at 6.2 knots at 3,000 RPM.
She consumes only 1/3 gallon per hour, with her 80 gallon fuel tank in the keel, she has over 200 hours of run time available |

The 200 gallon per day 12 volt sea recovery water maker was installed in 2009.
This supplies two 30 gallon water tanks and a quick 6 gallon water heater. |
