Description: If there ever was a comfortable liveaboard ketch in a 33’ length … this is the design. Blue Yonder is a standard-layout Nauticat 33 with berths for seven, inside and outside helms, powerful diesel engine, and generous light, air, and visibility from inside the main cabin. An inside steering station is just plain civilized. You can sip your morning coffee while watching the scenery pass by under sail or motor in inclement weather. With a shoal draft of 4’ 1”, Blue Yonder will slip into the skinniest of anchorages on the Inner Banks, Outer Banks, down in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, or anywhere else you choose to cruise. Accommodations: Berths for seven are provided in V-berth (2), port dinette (2), main cabin (1), and aft cabin berths (2). From the main cabin and down the companionway to starboard, the galley is open, light, well ventilated, and provides plenty of storage. The head is located conveniently to port forward of the dinette and galley and just aft of the V-berth, which is convertible to a double berth. The private aft cabin is accessible aft and down from the main cabin and includes its own vanity sink, a hanging locker, shelves, and generous storage. The main cabin has two deck-accessible doors for ventilation and ingress/egress. Comfortable cushioned seating is also provided, as well as a large sliding ventilation hatch overhead. Galley Norcold refrigeration and a 2-burner propane stove/oven will make food preparation a cinch. Complementing the galley set-up is a dual stainless steel sink, hot and cold pressure water, and plenty of storage space. Hot water is “on demand” via a propane water heater. Head A reliable Lavac marine head is provided, as well as a sink with hot/cold pressure water, vanity mirror, and storage racks.

Equipment: Electrical Blue Yonder has both 110-Volt AC and 12-Volt DC services. The 110-Volt AC shore power provides dockside service for the battery charger and outlets. Breakers are provided for each. Both the 110-Volt and 12-Volt service panels are equipped with breaker switches at the lower nav station. Two house bank batteries and starting battery were replaced in 2009. Electronics Blue Yonder is equipped with instruments for speed (via the Standard Horizon CP175 chartplotter/GPS), Autohelm depth, Autohelm autopilot, and Ritchie compass, located at the lower helm. There is a removable Ritchie compass for the upper nav station, with a nautical wooden box for safekeeping when not in use. A West Marine 600 Series VHF Radio is located at the lower nav station along with a Standard Communications Model 660 Stereo AM/FM/CD. Deck and Hull A swim ladder mounts to either side of the hull amidships and stows neatly along the rail when not in use. Blue Yonder comes equipped with four anchors, including two CQRs, a Danforth-type, and a folding fisherman's storm anchor. Rodes lead aft into a hinged anchor locker. There are deck hatches and opening ports to provide ventilation below decks. Blue Yonder had her navy blue hull painted/coated in 2005 with Epifanes polyurethane with clear coat. Her fuel tanks were replaced in 1993. Her teak decks were recaulked in 1992. Sails and Rigging Blue Yonder is Ketch rigged with genoa furling. Sails are original and include a mainsail, mizzen, staysail, and 130% and 160% genoas. All sail controls are within easy reach topside. Mechanical The 80-horsepower Ford diesel will keep Blue Yonder moving when the wind drops. The engine alternator will charge the batteries when the engine is running. Blue Yonder has a fixed 3-blade bronze propeller for smooth and reliable engine operation. Safety Equipment and Accessories All US Coast Guard required equipment is aboard including life jackets, horseshoe buoy, LifeSling, flares, air horn, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers. An automatic electrical and manual bilge pump are provided. Miscellaneous equipment includes canvas covers for the windshield, sliding hatch, spotlight, and more; a stainless steel boarding ladder; additional Danforth and folding fisherman anchors; Charbroil cast aluminum rail-mounted charcoal grill; on-deck searchlight and horn; and two Ritchie compasses. Even the original Nauticat owner's manuals are included!
