| Description: |
This fast, comfortable high-performance cruiser, designed by Doug Peterson, was originally designed to compete in the 1980 Southern Ocean Racing Conference (SORC). The boat was built by New Orleans Marine of a new epoxy composite. The design is strengthened by Airex filled horizontal and vertical ribs in addition to 360-degree bulkheads. With some minor changes the boat is now also a very comfortable cruiser on which you can safely take your family for a trip along the coast or across the ocean. We ourselves had planned to circumnavigate the globe, and chose the Serendipity 43 above all for its reputation in strength, reliability and performance under extreme circumstances, i.e. safety. But with a baby on the way we unfortunately have to sell this beauty.
Recent work
In 2011 Above the Waterline in Santa Barbara outfitted the boat with an electric engine. The batteries can be efficiently recharged under sail, and provide plenty of power for longer trips. The boat is rewired, 2X200w solar panels, led lights, new transducers and a wireless tick-tack system. The cabin, shower and galley are newly painted cabin, and a new head was installed, new cabin windows. The hatches are rebedded, a recent bottom job has been done and the hull has been waxed. The large sail locker can easily converted into a double berth/state room. The roomy cockpit has been customized to comfortable seat a racing crew or to entertain guest on board.
Although a lot of work has been done to the boat already, there is still some work left to do.
The headliner in the cabin has been removed for rebedding the deck hardware. And necessary instruments still need to be installed. This also explains the low asking price for this otherwise very complete boat
The boat is currently docked in Oxnard, Ca. Serious buyers are welcome to inspect her.
