Description: "She graces the harbor." That's what one customer of the marina said about ROZINANTE. She is almost certainly the most authentic Rozinante on the market, and very likely the most authentic of these canoe yawls in existence. For one thing, she was built to the order of L.Francis Herrshoff himself, by the yard of his friend Ole Lie-Nielsen. As such, she has no companionway slide, because as the Skipper put it, "It would cost $150 [in 1950's dollars] to build, and I'd duck my head a lot of times to save $150." She also has no winches. Fortunately, her modest sail plan (348 sq. ft.) makes her easy to sail without them. And sail she does. Even experienced sailors who know a wide range of boats declare her to be wonderful on the water. She is constructed of mahogany over oak, with a longleaf pine deadwood. The spars are sitka spruce, except the mizzen boom, which is fir. Half her weight is in her lead ballast keel, so despite her narrow beam, she stands up to her sails.

This is a boat for the person who wants and can appreciate a true classic, at a modest price.

A 2013 survey is available on request.

Equipment: Anchors--two Luke folding fisherman, 40 lbs. and 25 lbs. Cabin and cockpit cushions, hardly used. Sails--jib lightly used for 4 seasons, main and mizzen older but still serviceable. PDFs. Copious supply of fenders and docklines. Mooring ball. Pennants (2 yrs use).
