Description: For sale is the sailing vessel, Showtime, a 1982 Catalina 30', with transferrable Oceanside slip. Purchasing with a transferable slip is the fastest way into Oceanside Harbor, which maintains quite a waiting list. I bought Showtime as a project boat intending to live aboard to learn, not only how to maintain her systems, but also what specifications I'd be looking for in my next boat. While I don't feel I was purposely mislead, this was my first boat buying experience and do feel there might not have been full disclosure. I'll try NOT to be that seller. Even with the survey, there were things I found following purchase that I wished I'd known about. . .things that wouldn't even have changed my purchase decision, just made me aware, not surprised. My seller sold me this boat via his method; I'll sell via mine and disclose what I know about the systems, good, bad, or ugly. I've only owned the boat for a year, so I'm basically going to paraphrase the yachtworld listing that I purchased, with my comments on what's upgraded, or new, with receipts/documentation available. A negative biopsy result mandates I keep the good karma going, and be the better seller! I don't think you could find a more turnkey sailboat.

So, here's where those disclosure notices start. The previouse owner never told me he hadn't figured out why he couldn't get the fresh water tank in the v-berth to empty. During my survey/sea trial, I simply noticed two full water tanks, and the water pump pushed water out of the galley faucet. However, when I quickly realized the v-berth tank was NEVER emptying, I had one of those "wish I had known" moments...who knows how long that water had been in that tank?? My first project became redesign, and sanitation, of the fresh water system. Now, the tanks are isolated, the system clean enough to cook with, and drink. FYI, switch tanks by opening the labeled, associated valve under the pilot berth access panel. While I do cook with the fresh water, I find it's just as convenient to have bottled water for drinking. I replaced the fresh water pump last summer. Additionally, I've drained the fresh water tanks, as much as practical. With any fortune, someone else's dream of owning a boat will happen sooner rather later, but it isn't good to have water just standing in the tanks. A sanitation flush of the system wouldn't be a bad idea.

Accomodations:
This Catalina 30 is equipped with a large cockpit, with wheel steering. Comfortable for many guests, she has a forward v-berth, great U-shaped dinette that drops converts to a sleeping area, with a comfortable aft pilot berth.

Electrical/Electronics
12VDC/110VAC w/shore power
2 Batteries - 1 house, 1 engine (both new April 2014)
Electrical Distribution Panel
12VDC cabin lighting
Raymarine ST60 Tri-Data
West Marine VHF
AM/FM/CD stereo, with cabin speakers
HDMI monitor mounted to forward bulkhead

Disclosure notes: Replaced the shore power inlet, shore power cord, and wiring from inlet to panel last fall. All the switches on the panel work. The switch for the main cabin lighting can sometimes be a little glitchy, but hasn't been enough of a concern to do anything about, and I lived here so lighting that works at night is pretty convenient. While the depth meter works, I can't figure out why the knotmeter doesn't. With the boat out of the water for bottom paint, I lubricated and serviced the physical device, but it still will not display a speed. As I prefer doing things the old school way, the knotmeter wasn't very high on the project list.

Mechanical:
Universal diesel < 100 hours
Transmission (2009)
Cutlass bearing (2009)
Black water tank (2009)
New Macerator
Upgraded bilge pump

Disclosure notes: Limited space here prohibits the full write-up I've done for this boat, of which I'm quite pleased. For the complete write-up, please email me at living_in_the_bluegrass at yahoo.
