Description: Marika is a Whitby 42 Cutter Ketch classic sailboat, made in Canada in 1984 and built to sail around the world with ease and elegance. She has sailed from the eastern seaboard to the Bahamas and back easily. With a 210 gallon fuel capacity, she has a range of about 1,500 miles. She keeps up with trawlers with her Lehman Ford 4-254 engine that runs at 1600rpm on a clean bottom doing 7 to 7.5 knots while burning approximately 1.25 gallons/hour. Marika, hull #301, has many extras and upgrades. Here are some of her features:
The owner’s cabin has a queen size bed and large head with shower. The V berth cabin sleeps two with a roomy head with shower, plus closets & drawers for storage.
The main cabin’s port settee pulls out into a queen size bed; thus she comfortably sleeps 6 adults.
The U-shaped galley on the port side is well-equipped with freezer, fridge, oven and microwave. A galley hatch keeps the cook in the party and the galley cool.
On the starboard side she has two swivel chairs in front of a liquor cabinet with a fold-down table large enough for two to dine on.
Between the owner’s cabin and the main cabin is the large, step in engine room, wet locker, passageway and work bench. The mast is enclosed. The navigation station is roomy comfortable.
This makes Marika an excellent long term live aboard and long distance cruiser.

This Whitby has four roller furlers with all sheets leading to the cockpit. A couple can easily and quickly trim, furl, and reef from the cockpit under all weather conditions.
The main and mizzen are Hood Stoaway in mast furlers with the main electrified. The two track head sail furler and staysail also are easily handled.
The cockpit is spacious and comfortable and includes an icebox next to the helmsman. The dodger and high center cockpit make for a dry ride in nearly all conditions.
