Description: The subject vessel is a fifty foot on deck, ketch rigged auxiliary motor sailing vessel known as a Carius 50. Construction is of red cedar carvel plank on frame with an exterior finish of dynell cloth and epoxy. Layout is with a double Vee berth in the forecastle. Also forward is an enclosed marine head and a separate shower stall. A partial bulkhead separates this area from the main saloon. This large area has settees port and starboard and a dining table to starboard. The “U” shaped galley is starboard, aft and the machinery space is located on the mid-line. There is a port side companionway leading up and aft to the wheelhouse.
In the wheelhouse, the helm is centered and there are port and starboard entry doors.
There is also a navigator’s station and ample storage and seating.
A companionway leads down and aft to the double berth owner’s cabin.
The main deck is fitted with stanchions and safety lines. On the aft deck there is a push pit with bench seating and the outside helm station with binnacle hydraulic steering. Forward of the wheelhouse, the raised trunk cabin is finished in a fibreglass non skid and is fitted with two opening hatches. There are also opening hatches in the wheelhouse top and the forecastle.
All decks are well organized for vessel handling with minimal crew.
