Description: |
After twelve short years and countless unforgettable moments it's time to part with our beloved Jean Marie. This boat has been a joy to sail and performs well in heavy winds and light winds. She's been well-maintained over the years with many system upgrades, essential spares, and safety gear added for an anticipated Pacific crossing. She was re-powered with a Beta 43 just last year and has less than 100 hours on the engine. This is not a project boat. She's ready and outfitted to cross oceans. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity has closed for us. For a cruising couple or singlehander with blue water dreams and an eagerness to set sail immediately this is the ideal boat.
The gear list is extensive. When I purchased this boat in 2005 it was in perfect condition. Since then I've added a Spectra watermaker, a stainless-steel arch, stainless rails around the cockpit, 3 solar panels, a 50-watt charge controller, a custom-built hard dodger, a deck wash, a cockpit shower, an electric head pump, an additional bilge pump, AIS, LED lighting, and a new hypalon dinghy. I've also replaced the main sail, yankee, roller furling, standing rigging, radar/chartplotter, radar antenna and mount, batteries, battery combiner, water heater, cushions, curtains, and covers. If you're looking for a Fast Passage 39 you will not find one in better condition or better equipped.
Jean Marie is a 1982 Fast Passage 39 designed by William Garden and built by Tollycraft in the state of Washington. There are only 40 or so in existence, originally built by Philbrooks in Sydney, BC. They are proven passage-makers and above-average performers, often compared to the Valiant 40, with many features considered ideal for a cruising boat: long fin keel, skeg-hung rudder, keel-stepped mast, and cutter rig.
The boat is currently on the hard in San Blas, Mexico (a 3-hour bus ride north from Puerto Vallarta). For more information contact James at svjeanmarie@gmail.com. |
