1969 ALLIED SEAWIND located in Florida for sale

Description: Allied Yachts Company built 161 Allied Seawind 30' ketches between 1962 and 1982. Farewell is hull number 110 and was constructed in 1969 in Catskill, NY out of ½" thick hand-laid fiberglass and has a full, encapsulated keel with 4,200 lbs of poured lead for ballast. The ketch rig with semi-full keel is easy to sail and well balanced even in the stiffest breeze. Designed by Thomas Gillmer, the Allied Seawind ketch is the first fiberglass constructed yacht to circumnavigate the world. There have been countless other Seawinds that have also completed multiple circumnavigations. These voyages and longevity on the water have given her a solid reputation as a soundly constructed and proven seaworthy blue water cruising sailboat.

In all honesty, Farewell is in need of extensive cosmetic care. Since acquiring her from my grandfather in 2011, I have been occupied starting a career and a family. I have not had the time to care for her properly or to use her for any cruising opportunities. As such she has been dockside for practically the entire period.

Topsides need sanding, ding repair and painting. Below decks could use similar resurfacing of bulkheads and flooring. Interior cushions were replaced with 5” foam and recovered with sunbrella fabric in 2012. Engine was replaced in 2006 and has very limited usage since that time. Sails are serviceable but in need of replacement in the near future. I am offering her at a reduced and reasonable price hoping there is an enthusiast who appreciates the legacy of this boat and is willing and able to restore her to her rightful sailing heritage. Her hull is sound and the engine practically unused. She is ready to resume her place in the cruising world.
