Description: |
ALCA is one extraordinary vessel. The vessel was designed and built to serve as an oceanographic laboratory for the builder's (also owner and operator) research in sub-arctic waters. The vessel has been well built and is extremely well suited to its intended purpose. This is the 9th vessel the owner has owned and operated for his marine research, and the attention to design and detail is the culmination of many years of knowledge and experience (every system has a backup).
In addition to being built in accordance with the standards of ABYC, NFP A and applicable USCG requirements for recreational vessels, certain details of construction and equipment installations (for example fuel tanks and watertight bulkheads) have been carried out in conformance with USCG "T Boat" requirements, as covered in 46USC Part 175 and subsequently, to enhance possible future use of the vessel as a Coast Guard inspected small passenger vessel, or could easily be converted as a private Motorsailer with a three cabin, two head layout. |
