I bought this boat a few years ago and last sailed it in November. Recently got a new boat so thats why Im selling this one. It needs work (detailed below) but will make a great starter boat or parts boat if you are looking to get another one in shape for the water.
- Sails have been in dry storage all winter and are in good shape. Other than replacing broken batten caps and sewing (or taping) a few small spots they are ready for the wind.
- The trampoline is is in good shape.
- Almost all of the rigging was bought new last year and is still in great shape. The main block and line are original to the boat so they show some age but are quite functional.
- A storm beat her up this winter while at dock and snapped a forestay bridle, causing the mast to twist and popping off the mast base. Like most Hobie 16 parts, theyre easily available online.
- The hulls need work. I suggest a sanding to strengthen the fiberglass considerably in places. If you already have a boat with good hulls then this boat can provide the rest.
- Galvanized trailer is still in good shape though the title was unable to be found by the last owner.
(The pricing is primarily based on the value of the sails, rigging, trampoline and trailer.)
