1992 macgregor 26S located in Virginia for sale

26' macgregor 26S

Description: This 1992 MacGregor 26S is for sale to anyone willing to haul it. Currently the boat is covered and buttoned up for winter, but can easily be opened for a prospective buyer. It was purchased in Idaho, and refurbished/cleaned/repaired to make it both seaworthy and safe. The current owner has seven years experience sailing and working in the sailboat part and repair industry. This boat was raced, sailed, and camped in over the last two years before making the journey to the east coast.

The Mac 26S makes an excellent day sailor, light coastal hugging cruiser, and family sailing vessel. Capable of sitting four comfortably in the cockpit, and sleep up to six, the 26S can be anything from a multi night trip down to Virginia Beach, to a simple relaxing day on the water in the bay. Being water ballasted means this boat is known as one of the easiest to haul, launch, and retrieve. It also performs very well in shoal areas, as you can just blow out some ballast to raise the boat off a sandbar. While a bit of a large boat, it can easily be single handed in it's current state.

If you're interested in a fast boat, the 26S can be tuned to perform with the best of them, easily placing in the top of it's class and gaining quite a bit of adjusted time. This boat has extended running rigging and the fixed spreader kit included in the sale, if you want to tune the boat for performance. Combined with the Rudder Craft equipment, most of the expensive work is done already.

The current owner is moving very soon, and needs to sell the boat ASAP. It is being sold as is, and is readily available for viewing and negotiations. The current pictures show the boat stripped down for travel, with standing rigging lashed to the mast. As the boat is covered from the winter, no interior pictures were available. More pictures (including interior) are available upon request for seriously interested parties.

Equipment: The following repairs happened within the last year:

-The top deck has been opened up and new core material installed to fix all softspots/deck voids, and any effected non-skid replaced with Kiwi-Grip.
-All hardware rebedded with butyl tape to prevent any leaks from above.
-Standing rigging inspected and repaired where necessary.
-Spreaders arms replaced to tune the rig, and prevent any future failures by converting to all metal parts.
-Running rigging replaced with fresh Warp Speed line.
-All cushions washed and inner foam replaced to provide greater comfort for passengers and crew.
-Electrical system tested, although a new battery will be required, as the current owner never needed to use the lights.
-Hull fully inspected for leaks and structural issues, with nothing found other than a few gelcoat scratches and some dock rub.
-Centerboard pulled, inspected, and reinstalled.
-All interior hatch covers replaced with Starboard plastic.

This boat has the following parts and upgrades:

-90% Jib
-110% Genoa
-OEM Mainsail (slightly worn, easily has another few years of heavy sailing before needing to be replaced, no tears or patches)
-All rigging hardware replaced with modern captive systems to prevent dropping pins or complicated sail changes
-Rudder Craft improved foil rudder
-Rudder Craft post cap extension (to provide clearance for the tiller for easier use and tighter rudder control)
-2x Rudder Craft tillers (one worn and needing to be refinished [intended to be a backup tiller], a second in perfect un-used condition)
-6hp Outboard (Evenrude, Yachtwin)
-Aluminum outboard mount
-Mast Raising system from Blue Water Yachts (Although the mast was never drilled to use it. The entire rig can be stepped by hand with little effort.)
-Alcohol stove
-Alternator charging for the electrical system (This was installed by a previous owner and not compatible with the current outboard. It was not removed due to the fact that it does work, and a future outboard will be compatible.)
-Porta-Potty (chemical toilet, unused)
-2x Danforth style anchors
-New anchor chain and rode (length unknown, but substantial)
-Folding Bimini w/ white Sunbrella (uninstalled, recovered from a salvaged boat and needing some repair parts easily found at West Marine)
-Dark red boom & mainsail cover (brand new)
-Collapsible swim ladder (removable over the gunwale style)
-Fixed spreader upgrade kit
-Backup hand pump sink faucet
-Reinforced stainless powder coated mast crutch (pitched to stern and with roller for easier mast stepping)
-Giant UV-resistant tarp to act as a cover during the off season, to prevent any flooding during rainstorms
-A container of pins, cleats, nuts and bolts (replacement parts, backups, and parts for future upgrades)
-A few life jackets and all legally required safety gear
-A bag of finish caps to cover all of the hardware access ports (and any future ones)
-Brand new rubrail from Blue Water Yachts, sized to fit the 26S

-OEM trailer perfectly fitted to the 26S
-New tires put on in August '17
-Spare from August '17 (unused)
-Axle inspected and approved by Commercial Tire in August '17
-Both wheel bearings repacked in October '17
-Both wheels include Bearing Buddies
-Trailer has surge breaks installed, but disabled (these can easily be enabled, but the trailer and boat weigh only ~2100lb dry)
