Description:
PRICED TO SELL

Joy is one of the best-maintained examples of the well regarded Bristol 41.1 that anyone will find, built in 1984, and always kept in good condition, recently re-powered with a new engine, new standing and running rigging, new refrigeration, batteries and canvas.

Bristol were one of the first production glassfibre boat builders, based in Rhode Island, USA, and their vessels have an excellent reputation as comfortable, solid, go anywhere, bluewater cruising yachts painstakingly built by some of the worlds finest craftsmen.

This Bristol 41.1 is a second generation, Ted Hood designed, sloop rigged cruiser that can be easily sailed single handed. With the centreboard raised the draught of 46 (1.35m) permits the vessel to sail into shallow anchorages such as the Bahamas, and the mast height of 62' (18.60m) above the water allows her to sail under the fixed bridges on the ICW.

With two double cabins and two heads plus convertible berths in the saloon providing comfortable accommodation for 6.

This vessel has been cherished by the last two owners and has spent the last 20 years just gently cruising the Caribbean before recently crossing the Atlantic. She is ready to sail over the horizon and more than capable of continuing around the globe. All in all a vessel in great condition and ready to go anywhere without the need for additional crew.

Lying in Tangier, Morocco, having just crossed from the Caribbean, please contact Richard for further details.

Equipment:
Joy was sold by me to the current owners in 2014, since when they have invested significant sums to improve a boat that had always been very well maintained.

In 2015 the standing rigging was renewed, the original refrigeration was replaced with a very efficient and higher capacity Waeco system more suited to the tropics, and the boat was replumbed.

In 2016 the original Westerbeke engine was replaced by a Beta Marine 50hp diesel, which now has only done 230 hours.

In 2017 the batteries were replaced, the lighting changed to LED's, new halyards and a new bimini.

The centreboard is currently glassed into the trunk in the raised position, a common modification on Bristol yachts whose owners do not spend much time beating to windward. The winch and cable are still in-situ and it can easily be recommissioned by opening up the trunk and replacing the turning blocks.

A good example of this well founded boat.
