Description: Amaryllis is a Tom Gillmer-designed double ender, perfect for a cruising couple. Her Airex-cored hull was shipped from Clarke Ryder’s shipyard in Rhode Island to Sidney, British Columbia, for custom deck, cabin, interior accommodations and teak joinery to be professionally built here on the West Coast. Launched in 1977, extensive refit completed 2016. Port of registry is Victoria, BC, and she’s moored at our home on nearby Salt Spring Island.

A proven bluewater vessel, Amaryllis has sailed the California coast to Mexico, across the South Pacific to Polynesia, Fiji, New Zealand and return by way of Hawaii. Now we comfortably cruise local waters from Washington’s San Juan Islands north to remote anchorages along British Columbia’s beautiful Inside Passage.

Amaryllis packs a lot of livability into 31 ft LOD. Below, in the saloon she has an in-line galley with stove, refrigerator, sink and hanging locker to port, dinette seating to starboard (that can be converted to a double berth when required), with a butterfly skylight overhead to ensure a bright interior. The Dickinson diesel stove provides cabin heat, hot water — and the best oven-baked bread imaginable. A portable Force 10 two burner stove can be mounted on top for summer use. Forward is a stateroom with snug double berth and an enclosed head/shower; aft, a quarter berth and spacious chart table with electronic aids to navigation as specified below.

On deck, her split rig gives her the look and feel of a much larger yacht and performs wonderfully well, particularly when reaching in the trades — even under just jib and mizzen. Aluminum spars were fabricated by MetalMast, the main stepped on the keel, mizzen on the bridge deck. An outboard rudder and tiller steering reveals her Scandinavian heritage and, when coastal cruising, there’s a cockpit table for romantic dinners. The classic appearance of Amaryllis is enhanced by teak brightwork, ash blocks and bronze hardware throughout.

A marine survey (2014) is available on request. Survey value $85,000 CAD; offered for sale by owner for $65,000 USD.
