Description: Designed by Sparkman & Stephens, Glory was built by Morton and Johnson in New Jersey for Philip Miller of Greenwich, CT. Days after launch, Glory competed in and won her first race the Stratford Shoals overnight Columbus Day race. From there Glory sailed south for a winter of racing and cruising in Florida. The boats first ocean race was the 1958 Bermuda Race in which she came first in Class C. This win, alongside Finisterres second consecutive win of Class D, showed that this relatively new design beamy, keel-centerboard hulls could seamlessly blend comfort with speed, resulting in dynamic racing boats. Glory helped to herald in an appreciation for these (at the time) unconventional designs.

After success on the East Coast, Glorys ownership changed and the boat was moved to the West Coast where she competed successfully in Transpac races and local regattas along the California coastline.

In 2012 a significant restoration was started at Artisan Boatworks. Two years and $260,000 later Glorys hull was rebuilt and a new (2011) engine installed. The owner was forced to walk away before finishing the work and Glory was left without an interior or mizzen rig. In 2016 the current owner purchased the boat. A talented shipwright, his intention was to complete the restoration and enjoy Glory as a coastal cruiser. Life and time marched along and today Glory remains unfinished.

Interior drawings by Mark Fitzgerald are offered with the boat, along with original drawings and all inventory purchased in 2016. The owners goal is to find the boat a home fitting of its past and pedigree. Please inquire to learn more.

A 2016 insurance survey is available upon request. The boat is in Northport, ME available for viewing.
