Description: Ready to cruise? This boat is ready to go!
I have owned this delightful family cruising sailboat since it was new in 1983. We used her to cruise around the US and British Virgin Islands and on to St Martin/St Barts/Anguila in the late 1980's, and then seasonally to the Bahamas and along the Intracoastal from Georgia to the Florida Keys.
The O'Day 37 center cockpit has the perfect layout for privacy and comfort for family cruising or as a liveaboard. Hey - 2 bedroom, 2 bath. The 150 gallon fresh water and 40 gal diesel capacity is great for long cruises away from it all, with hot showers and rinse offs after a swim.
Many features have been added to this sailboat to make the day to day cruising activities as comfortable as possible, including an inverter to power regular appliances, phone chargers, and the microwave oven. The large icebox has been upgraded to provide reliable air-air refrigeration, and an solid state mini-fridge has replaced the old rarely used oven (we always grill on our handy clean propane grill on the rail).
A neat hard top now covers the cockpit. So no bimini canvas leaks, and it provides for mounting of the two 140 Watt solar panels, which can keep all the electronics and refrigeration happy without incessant running of the engine. The standard 70 A alternator has been upgraded to a Balmar 120 Amp marine alternator which will quickly top up the house batteries on rainy days.
Out at anchor the breeze and wind scoop will usually keep everyone aboard happily cool even here in Florida or over in the Abacos. However, for those days and muggy nights in the marina, the powerful A/C makes the whole boat cool and dry.
It has been great owning and cruising and rafting up with friends on the "Dreadnought", but my friends (not me) got old and it's time to give up my lovely sailing vessel for a younger crowd to enjoy.....
