26' Macgregor 26M

La Perla Azul, The Blue Pearl, that I am aware of is a three owner boat, originally owned by a gentleman out of San Diego, later by a man from Tucson AZ and lastly by myself in Kingman AZ. The first owner did some sailing in the Sea of Cortez I was told. The second man sailed the boat very little over a three year period and I, for the past 5 years, have sailed the boat in the freshwater lakes of North West Arizona. When I first acquired the boat I had the bottom sanded. There was no pitting or blistering. The hull bottom was then primed with Pettit Protect Epoxy Primer 1100 White followed with a coat of Pettit Vivid white 1161 antifouling paint. The boat was dock scuffed in a storm mid-2017 and was repainted professionally with DuPont Imron 3.5 HG Plus Polyurethane, Blue 7025 completed the end of 2017. The bottom was not touched at this time other than to reapply bottom paint removed during top side painting. The Deck area is in excellent condition and is an original non-slip gel coat finish. The repaint in 2017 was due to paint damage and I stress there was no hull damage of any sort. The paint remains beautiful as Imron is a very resilient high gloss poly that is often applied to high end aircraft. The boat was then sailed on Lake Havasu in 2018 and the spring of 2019. The boat has been in covered dry dock since that time at my home in Kingman. The Yamaha 4 stroke 60 HP motor is likely the original and has currently under 270 hours which I would think gives one some idea of how little the boat has actually be motored and consequently probably how little of her life she has actually been on the water. I know I have put about half of the motor hours on the boat myself, getting back to the dock of an evening when the wind has died, or motoring into the marina and my slip. I have several picks of the boat which I will forward on request.

The original Macgregor Sails, I am told were removed shortly after the boat was purchased and replaced with very high end Rolly Tasker Sails. The original near new sails are bagged and go with the boat. The RT Sails remain in what I would describe as very good condition. I replaced the sacrificial flap on the RT Jib sail in 2016 which was showing some signs of wear at the time. The original hardware on the 26M, while completely functional, was not generally high end gear to make the boat affordable to as many people as possible. Im told, literally thousands of these boats of one model or another were produced, the 26M being produced toward in the later years of production. I have replaced much of this rigging with high end stainless steel. However, the furler remains original Macgregor, very simple yet highly functional. I have added a new SS Boarding ladder, numerous expensive cup holders and a new flip up cockpit table. There are custom Pacific Blue covered bench pads for the entire cockpit areaa real plus. The boat comes with a Pacific Blue Bimini with all rods and attachments presentall in very good condition. . The boat came to me with a full, custom made, Pacific Blue boat cover which I have kept stored in a very large plastic locker and never used. The original plastic winches have been replaced with Lewmar winches each with its own winch handle. SS Passageway grab handles have been added. Jib Genoa Standup Blocks have been upgraded to SS. A single line reefing kit has been added. The forestay was replaced to spec. A topping lift kit was added. I upgraded the mast bearing base. Transom filler brackets and panel were added to increase the utility of the starboard seat lazarette. The main and jib sheets have been replaced and are near new. The swim ladder was upgraded (more and larger, more comfortable steps) and a large SS grab handle was added to increase its usefulness. All docking lines and their donkey Diks, as well as bumpers are present and go with the boat. There are many hardware upgrades too numerous to mention. A year and a half ago I purchased a Doyle Asymmetrical Spinnaker for the boat along with a state of the art ATN Spinnaker Dousing Sock (a near $2000 addition to the sail locker). These have never been unfurled and used under sail. I recently replaced the aging battery bank with two new batteries. In total, since I purchased the boat in 2016, I have added just shy of $4000 worth of upgrades to the boat not counting the new paint job. I sincerely doubt there are many M26s out there that are in better condition. Why am I selling Blue Pearl? Im retired and over the past couple of years have been building a Devlin Design Song Wren 21 (Gaff-rigged short keel Cutter). As its build nears completion, the reality is that I have neither need for nor a place for two sailboats no matter how great they are. So, it is a painful but practical reality I must face which turns out to be a real opportunity for someone that loves the utility of a great motor sailor, the Mac 26M
