14 FOOT BEAM Geminis are designed around a 14 foot beam, which allows them to fit into single slips in marinas, and fit in normal sized travel lifts. This gives you a wider choice of marinas, and avoids the cost and hassle associated with beamier cats.
RUDDERS AND CENTREBOARDS The Gemini 105MC has centreboards and rudders which may be lifted to fit in shallower water, requiring as little as 18" of water! Boards and rudders kick up if they hit an obstruction, which makes them exceptional for shallow water found on the east coast and bahamas.
SAILING The Gemini 105MC is easy and fun to sail. The centreboards give it decent upwind performance versus minikeel cats, and it is capable of hitting double digit speeds in heavy air. The owner had recently upgraded sails with the addition of a North Sails 3Di mainsail and new 135 and 115 Genoas made with Contender Dyneema hybrid sailcloth for long life and retention of shape. It is also equiped with the optional screecher system. This 200% furling headsail is mounted to a unique track that allows the tack to be positioned anywhere across the bow of the boat. It gives great performance from close reach in light airs, to dead downwind.
ENGINE AND DRIVE SYSTEM This Gemini 105MC is equiped with a single 3 cylinder 27 HP diesel giving reliable efficient cruising at 6 knots. It uses the Sillette stern drive system with a large efficient 3 blade prop. The leg is connected to the steering, giving exceptinal maneuverablity for easy docking. The drive leg may be lifted out of the water when sailing to reduce drag. It is also lifted when the boat is not used, eliminating electrolysis and fouling / barnacle growth. The lift/lock system is a known weakness of the otherwise robust and reliable Sillette system, so the owner had professionally engineered and installed conversion to the industry standard Mercruiser Alpha One hydraulic tilt / trim system, which is operated by a toggle switch from the helm.
ELECTRONICS This boat is equiped with Raymarine ST60 wind instrument and tridata (depth/speed/trip log), and EVO autopilot, which are connected via NMEA 2000 networking to a Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 3 Chartplotter / multifunction dislay. Also connected are a Lowrance Link 8 VHF radio with AIS reciever, so AIS equipped ships and boats can be seen on the chartplotter. Navionics Eastern North America charts are installed. The HDS 7 has lowrance chirp sonar and structure scan (sidescan) sonar, which is great for fishing, seeing the bottom before anchoring, or just knowing what is underneath you.
COCKPIT ENCLOSURES This boat is equipped with an Isinglass cockpit enclosure as well as a screen enclosure that surround the cockpit from coaming to the hard bimini roof. The screen enclosure will make your boat the most popular one in the anchorage on a warm but buggy evening. The Isinglass enclosure creates total comfort in wet or cool weather, which can significantly extend one's sailing season.
GALLEY The large galley in the port hull has a stainless two basin sink, two burner propane stove with oven, and a fridge that runs on propane or 120V dock power. Propane fridges do not work on monohulls because of heeling angles, but the flat sailing of the Gemini 105MC allows their use. This gives you effective no-hassle refrigeration away from the dock without huge electrical power usage or messing with generators.
