Bolero is a 1967 Shields One Design that was refurbished and modified by Tim Lackey (Northern Yacht Restoration) to create a modern knockabout sloop. Tims full building log can be found here.lackeysailing.com/archived/bolero/bolero.htm
My intent in commissioning this project was to create a stunning sailboat with impeccable sailing qualities that would sail well without having to use, or even have, an engine. My inspiration was the old, wooden, knockabout sloops similar to, say, a Sparkman & Stephens Dark Harbor 20.
After a lengthy search, I found an older, 1967 Shields that was in major need of restoration and was past its racing prime. And with Tims amazing effort she become the Knockabout Sloop Bolero.
