Description: Of all the great sailboats built by Tartan the Tartan 41,built 1972-1976, had the most remarkable impact on the ocean racing world. The 41 was designed by Sparkman & Stephens as a flat-out racing boat under the IOR rule and was commissioned by Charlie Britton in order to compete with the first Nautor boats, of which they dominated. The Tartan 41 is still a fast boat with a PHRF rating as low as 96. The Tartan 41 is built to sail the oceans of the world and carries a CE certification for unlimited offshore use, Category A. The Tartan 41 is fast, strong, and world renown.
