Description: |
Bruce Roberts Offshore 44. Great project boat for someone who can weld or learn how. With a little epoxy it could sail around the world. Needs welding work to be fixed properly. This boat was in a storm in Hawaii, but was patched and has since sailed to Alaska. Owner sailed it home to repair it properly, started the work, but no longer has the time due to other projects. Has lots of potential.
Dimensions: 44.5 Hull, 21 Net Tonnage, 27 gross tonnage. History: 1st owner had great plans, but ended up passing away, second owner let it drag anchor and run up on the rocks in a storm in Hawaii. Current owner purchased it on the rocks, patched it and sailed it with no engine from Hawaii to his home in Gustavus Alaska in 2014. It's been sitting on a trailer since then. Damage and Work needed to be properly fixed: Below waterline: One bent rib (functional but needs sistering), one plate requires welding. Stern: Fist-sized hole, temporarily patched with plate/epoxy to sail, welding would be proper. Keel: Remove lead ballast, weld keel, reinstall lead. Steering: Column removed for repair, needs reinstallation. |
