Description:
In 1967 the race to produce the next 3 man, keel-boat / trials for the Olympics was on. The Trias (Triad in German) competed against Soling amongst others and ended up loosing to the Soling. Helmut Stoberl continued to produce the "Sandwich, vacuum injection" hulls with a teak and mahogany deck in a center cockpit configuration, to be raced in competition in its own class on the lakes in Europe.

Named,"Vahine" (pronounced 'Wah Hee knee') has a rich history coming from Europe with its owner to Hawaii, and then to S. E. Florida where it called home the Coconut Grove sailing club for many years. The owner sold it to a family member of mine and it was sailed in Connecticut on Long Island sound for many years. It was kept in the family and then sent back to Miami for restoration. I am selling it due to the fact that I do not have time to complete the restoration.

The deck was rotten and taken off. The stringer shapes are cut for composite construction but are templates from the original rotten ones. The liner was cut out in 3 pieces to dig out the wet foam and interior fiberglass sealed to prevent any future water intrusion. The liner pieces are still in tact for glassing back in place. Liquid marine foam will need to be poured back in once the liner is secured.

*This is project boat and is not in any sail-able shape at the moment. The new owner can reconfigure a new deck entirely up to his liking or use the original plans from the "Trias-International" website to replicate the original. (google will translate pages)
It comes with a solid German built Trailer. New tires on two wheels and 2 brand new wheels from West Marine within the past year.
Price includes mast and boom. If buyer only wants the hull, rudder, and trailer; Fixed price is $3,000.

This is a pseudo parting out! It all depends on the project the new owner has in mind as to how much of the original 1972 equipment they plan to use. The sails need restitching on many of them in areas where the stitching has rotten in time.

The Hull is in solid shape, there was one section that was cut out for water intrusion in the sandwich, but has been dealt with, the small hole needs to be structurally glassed back over and filled. Bottom is near ready to be either gel-coated or Intl. 3000E layered before paint or anti-foul.

Above the water line has been refinshed and fared (for dark paint) and painted, then primed again with interlux Prime Kote, and fared (prepped for 2 part finish coat, was going to be Flag Blue)

Boat is currently in a back yard, buyer is responsible for trailering it out of its location and for any trailer registration.

No "Tire Kickers", please!
