"I have a 1965 Columbia 38 sloop and in the years I have owned it (18) I have repaired, replaced or rebuilt everything on it. It is a fine sailor, faster than all but modern racers. It is a crank boat that sails as much as 45 degrees heeled. A very beautiful boat with classic lines that are often commented on. As far as the basic structure, it is strong and over-built. All surveyors like its basic construction and set a high "replacement" value on it."
- Al Wolfson, 1965 C-38 #16, Annie Laurie
A beautiful boat with beautiful lines, the owner has done a lot of work to upgrade the vessel. The brightwork both interior and exterior is fantastic, the owner has invested in a custom full over-boom sunbrella boat cover, and a new roller furler with new Ulman headsail.
The tiller cockpit is roomy with basic setups that the owner has upgraded with Lewmar 40 self tailing wenches.
Going into the boat, you will notice the clenliness of the space. The owner spent a lot of money on her, adding heavy duty stainless hatches, beautiful upholstery, incredibly brightwork, updated paint, new wiring and plumbing, compost head system, and a completely serviced Atomic 4 engine with electric start and new manifolds, pumps, and such. In addition, there is a new breaker panel, new GFCI outlets, shore power, city water hookup, and more.
This boat blends the classic with the modern. The layout is a simple split design with the galley on one side and a pilots station on the other. This is open to a bench style table and settee to port and a full settee to starboard. Further ahead you will find the head and the V berth, both of ample size.
If you are looking for a classic cruiser that will draw attention when under sail, yet has many of the creature comforts of a modern day boat, this might be the boat for you! |
