I have a Silver Century Plus (s/n WSPCL-620MM7) that I no longer need. Sold the boat, and the buyer didn't want the motor, which I found mildly offensive but it's his loss ;-)
It is a long-shaft Silver Century Plus model with forward & neutral gearing, manufactured in November 1977. Purchased to push a 23' full keel sailboat, 3300lbs (1500kgs) displacement. It is roughly 5HP equivalent, with a high-thrust prop ideal for slow, heavy-displacement boats like sailboats.
I cleaned the Amal carburetor and converted it to 25:1 operation for reduced smoke & cost, using the official Seagull conversion kit for the purpose. I also refinished the fuel tank, coating the interior with Red-Kote fuel tank lining to prevent rust contamination, and fitted a new tank filter and cork. It is a reliable and strong motor now, and has been properly winterized at the end of each season.
Spares include a new drive spring, spark plugs, "weedless" round-lobed propeller in addition to the original square-lobed "Hydrofan" prop, and a recoil starter kit (not installed).
The motor is currently packaged in a homemade crate of construction lumber and OSB, with rope handles, in Northern Colorado, USA, as pictured in one of the photos below. I'm willing to ship it at the buyer's (likely considerable) cost. Local pickup is of course fine. |
