Description: |
Cygnet is a 1987 Nonsuch, built by Hinterhoeller in Canada. She is the Ultra Version which features a forward cabin with a double berth, a hanging closet and several drawers and storage spaces. Moving aft, the shower and head compartments are on the starboard side. The shower has a seat and provides hot and cold shower options. Aft of the shower is the head featuring an Airhead composting toilet and a sink with hot and cold pressurized water. (Note that the hot water comes from the Paloma gas heater located in the galley) The galley is located to port and boasts a two burner gas stove with an oven. Beside the stove is an ice box and there is a sink. The saloon has a single berth/seat to Port and there is a large table to starboard which folds down to form a double berth. The seat/berth to Port has a Chart Table across the foot close to the companionway stairs. This is not a standard feature. Above the Chart Table is the VHF and behind it is the electrical control panel. Behind the berths there is storage for books and other items. There is more storage under the double berth where the holding tank used to be located. The cockpit is roomy and easily seats six people. The cockpit is also where all the action takes place as the sail is hoisted, dropped and reefed from the cockpit. It is not necessary to go on deck until you are putting on the sail cover. The auxiliary engine is a 27HP Westerbeke diesel and the propellor is a two bladed Maxprop with a Line Cutter on the shaft just in front of it. The boat is controlled from the wheel in the cockpit with the engine Gear and Throttle controls locate conveniently on the Pedestal. This pedestal also supports the Garmin Chartplotter and the vital cupholder, as well as the Compass and the drop down cockpit table. On the bulkhead there are more instruments for depth and speed, but we dont have any wind instruments. The Garmin Chartplotter also receives the signal from the Radar dome, located on the Mast. The automatic pilot controls are mounted to Starboard in the cockpit beside the helmsma |
