Description: |
Tartan 30 "West Wind" has undergone many improvements. Standing rigging and running rigging were replaced by New England Yacht rigging, East Greenwich, RI in 2021. Propulsion is provided by the original Atomic 4 engine that runs smoothly and reliably, and thanks to its popularity, parts and advice are readily available.
Onboard systems have been modernized to ABYC standards. This includes a 100-watt solar panel with Victron MPPT controller, Blue Sea Systems Automatic Charge Relay and simplified two-position battery switch (2024). Electronics include a B&G 9" Vulcan chart plotter and Standard Horizon VX 2400 VHF radio, which incorporates an AIS receiver, both of which are linked to a NMEA 2000 backbone. The Airmar depth transducer was replaced in 2023.
In 2025, the mast was unstepped, all in-mast wiring was replaced, and a Signal Mate LED anchor light and B&G WS310 wired wind instrument were installed. The wind instrument is NMEA 2000 networked. A Raymarine ST-1000 Tiller Pilot is included.
A Natures Head composting toilet was installed in 2021. No odor, easy to maintain, and perfect for Bay and coastal cruising. West Wind is registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. |
