Overview
Excuses is a 1973 Ranger 23, an IOR Quarter-Ton racer/cruiser designed by Gary Mull and built by Ranger Yachts. Often marketed loosely as a "25-footer" (her overall length grows to roughly 25' with the bow pulpit and stern pushpit included), the Ranger 23 was one of the most successful small racer/cruisers of the era nearly 740 hulls were built between 1971 and 1978, and she's still respected today for her stiff, well-balanced fin keel and lively performance under sail.

This is a solid, honest boat: hull and interior are in good shape and the cushions are excellent, with a nearly new outboard already installed. The rigging and sails need attention before she's ready to race or cruise seriously, which is reflected in the price.

Ranger 23s currently trade in a wide band depending on condition and rigging state roughly $4,000 to $8,000 with well-sorted, race-ready boats commanding the top of that range and project boats at the bottom.
