Description: |
1973 Sundance 20 sailboat, designed by E. A. Brown and built by El-Mar Boat Co. in Roseville, Michigan. 19'9" LOA, 6'9" beam, approximately 1,300 lbs. Hull number 20. I have owned this boat since 1977. It has been stored indoors all but two years, when it was covered with a tarp. It is an exceptionally well-preserved original Sundance for its age.
Included Sundance 20 sailboat Original main, jib and genoa Mast and rigging Original trailer 1980 4-hp Chrysler outboard Spinnaker sheets and associated hardware Other sailing hardware |
Equipment: |
The boat includes its original sails, mast, trailer, and 4-hp Chrysler outboard. Sails Original main, jib and genoa. Main and jib are usable. Genoa has small cracks in the plastic windows that have been taped and sailed.
The centerboard hinge-pin mount was repaired in the late 1970s, a couple of years after I purchased the boat. The repair has held up extremely well, with no problems since. The original centerboard cable was later replaced with stainless-steel flexible cable and thimble.
Mast was replaced in the early 1980s after the original mast was damaged during Coast Guard assistance in righting the boat following a capsize. The spinnaker was lost at this time. Sail-control improvements
The jib and genoa tracks were modified to improve sail trim and pointing ability. A short track was added inside the shrouds for better upwind pointing, and longer tracks were added for better genoa trimming.
Hull / deck: A few small gelcoat chips and hairline cracks; some have been touched up.
Spinnaker sheets and associated hardware are included. One stern turning block is missing.
1980 4-hp Chrysler outboard. It ran when the boat was last used approximately three years ago, but needs a tune-up; it had difficulty maintaining a low idle.
Original trailer (with 1 7/8" hitch). Both tires have been replaced and one wheel bearing was recently replaced. Trailer could use paint and the lighting wiring needs attention; wireless/magnetic trailer lights could also be used. |
