37' Pearson 37

Designed by renowned Pearson naval architect Bill Shaw, the original Pearson 37 was conceived as a true racer-cruiser: responsive enough for IOR and PHRF racing, but with the accommodations and practicality needed for family cruising. Only 43 examples of this original design were produced, making it a relatively uncommon Pearson model today.

PLACE OF REFUGE is currently stored on the hard in San Carlos and will require some attention before returning to active cruising, but she comes with a substantial inventory of equipment and several meaningful upgrades already completed.

Below decks, youll discover a warm, contemporary wood interior with teak joinery, premium laminates, and a practical layout providing comfortable accommodations for up to seven people.

The layout features a traditional and roomy V-berth forward, with its own bureau and hanging locker, or a huge sail locker. Just aft and to starboard is the well-lit and ventilated head with 5 separate lockers and shower.

Moving aft is the comfortable saloon with opposing settees that convert to sea berths, a small-yet-functional U-shaped galley designed for cooking underway, and an aft quarter berth. Behind the seats hide large stowage areas; and with additional lockers and bureaus, there is a surprising amount of storage space aboard.

The interior preserves practical offshore features, including deep bilge sumps, well-secured bulkheads, and ample handrails, reflecting the builders understanding of real-world conditions at sea.
