"Obsession VI" represents a rare expression of that design philosophy-built not for casual coastal cruising, but with clear PURPOSE and INTENT for offshore capability, self-sufficiency, and remote exploration.
The current owner acquired the vessel as a bare steel hull in 2007 and spent years transforming it into a fully equipped cruising yacht before its 2020 launch. This is a true custom build, shaped by significant time, investment, and intention. Since launch, the vessel has successfully completed multiple voyages up and down the coast, demonstrating its seaworthiness and offshore capability in real-world conditions.
Designed with a robust pilothouse configuration, full steel hull and deck construction, and extensive insulation, the vessel is built for comfort and safety in demanding environments. The layout includes a forward V-berth, enclosed head with separate shower, functional galley, lower helm station with full controls, navigation area, spacious salon with dinette, and generous aft quarter berths.
Mechanical systems are equally purposeful. Powered by a reliable Isuzu 4GJ1 diesel engine (70HP, 920 hours, installed 2010) paired with a ZF marine gearbox, the vessel features dual helm stations and a fully independent hydraulic steering system with manual backup pumps located both inside and in the cockpit. Hydraulic systems also power the windlass and bow thruster, enabling efficient short-handed operation.
Recent upgrades include a brand-new mainsail, with jib and staysail in usable condition, manual winches, and strong deck hardware throughout. The hull is constructed of 1/4" steel plate with welded bulkheads and a heavily insulated interior-sandblasted, sealed, and foam-filled for thermal efficiency and offshore comfort. Pilothouse glazing is 1/2" laminated safety glass, reinforcing the vessel's heavy-duty construction philosophy.
Electrical systems include Blue Sea monitoring, Leece Neville high-output alternator, shore power with isolation transformer, and pre-wiring for inverter and solar integration (solar system previously removed). Navigation electronics include Furuno radar/chartplotter and VHF communications.
The vessel comes well-equipped with a thoughtful inventory of spares and onboard gear, including a riding sail, spare bilge pump and water pump, additional halyard, and a spare refrigeration compressor. Also included are an unmounted compass, spare belts, a Sailrite mast climber, a compact handheld vacuum, a flare gun, and a variety of other useful onboard parts and accessories.
