1979 C&C MK 1, hull #570. Reduced to $16,500. Encore has been consistently one of the best racing boats on the Hudson River since 1980. Her racing pedigree is unmatched for thirty years and most racers know her best by seeing her transom. She has had only four owners, all cruiser-racers. Encore has been upgraded continually with the best sails, equipment, and electronics available. The transmission was rebuilt in 2020, her keel was barrier coated, and the top sides were repainted this spring. These boats have solid hand-laid hulls (no cores) with a fin keel /rudder design for excellent handling characteristics. Once you've sailed a C&C 30 you can see why the owners keep these boats for so long. The cockpit is large for a 30 footer, and the U-shaped area allows for ample room around the wheel and pedestal. Encore's racing results include five Nyack Boat Club championships, and placing 3rd in class (out of 9 boats) in the 2018 Around Long Island Regatta (ALIR). If you want to race and win, this is the boat for you.
An offshore racing equipment package is available.
Layout and Equipment
Encore is a wonderful cruising boat. She has a large double berth in the forward cabin, with a private head replaced in 2016 and a good-sized hanging locker. The main cabin has a large table and settee seating that converts to a double bed on the port side, and a single berth on starboard. Throughout the boat the upholstery is in excellent condition. The original woodwork, well maintained, is still warm and beautiful. There is plenty of storage space in drawers, lockers, and shelving. The galley is equipped with a three-burner alcohol stove, an oven, and a sink on the starboard side; there is a large ice chest and good storage lockers on the port side. Above deck, all lines lead to the cockpit, and the main sheet with cockpit traveler is just ahead of the wheel. This boat is easy to single-hand. Encore has twelve sails for all wind conditions and her engine, standing, and running rigging are in perfect condition.
