Alberg 37, hull #2 on the hard andin search of a new home. Originally built for the 1968 NYC Boat Show, her interior joinery is beautiful. She sails even better. Unfortunately, a previous overseas job and now illness has left her in less than bristol condition.
She spent 4 years in San Diego (only time off the Great Lakes) and there is (hopefully "was" by the time you read this) an issue with salt corrosion on the engine control panel that is keeping her from starting. The Yanmar 3ym22 was new in 2008 from PO and has a campbell sailor prop and line cutter.
There was an issue where a through hull was left open and a hose cracked. She shipped water until it was noticed but did not sink. engine was immediatly pickeled and all water was removed immediately, so no damage to woodwork. Although it did give me a great excuse to pitch the 50yo cushions. part of the low price is to allow you to redo to your taste.
The exterior has three issues that wonk keep you from sailing. 1) the toe rail has two spots where a section is missing, 2) There is a crack in the deck near the cockpit that has a small area (basketball size) delamination. 3) The cockpit laz tops had a thin veneer of plywood that delaminated.
She's a solid boat with good rigging. I can help deliver if you want to splash her. While I think she is worth more than the asking price, I want to find her a good home asap. On the hard in Reno Beach, OH on Lake Erie. |
