ARCADIA was built in Lunenburg to Murray Stevens design in 1971.

The first owner fabricated and polished most of the stainless fittings himself to a quality that is not possible to buy today.

The white oak, African mahogany and teak used unsparingly in construction is seldom seen on boats of her vintage.

Her teak decks are to 1″ thick, and cabin soles are 1″ thick throughout the interior and cabin sides are 2″ solid teak.

The interior was professionally rebuilt to accommodate family cruising, a small part of which remains unfinished.

Accommodation comprises two private cabins, plus a pullman berth and quarter berth; spacious wraparound galley with Broadwater 4-burner stove/oven/grill, Italian, Corian-type one and a half sinks and drainer, main saloon seating area needs a table to finish it off, seating niche around woodstove, chart table area, head with separate shower cubicle, hanging locker and pantry with built in dry storage stainless bins for long passages.

Upholstery throughout is Alcantara (Ultrasuede).

All new mattresses made with layered Easydry foam and covered with Sunbrella.

As second owner since 1993, Arcadia has been a comfortable home with a sunlight filled main cabin and good visibility from below decks, a sea-kindly and swift passage maker and a pleasant liveaboard.

Since returning to Nova Scotia in 2017, she has won several trophies in the local annual classic races.

Equipment:
30kg Bruce Anchor with chain and 200′ rode, 35lb Danforth Stern Anchor, mooring lines, 6 large fenders. 12′ Caribe RIB. 2 oak fenderboards, saltwater deckwash pump. Heart Interface Inverter, 30 Amp socket for shore power, Kenwood SSB, ICOM VHF, Simrad Chart Plotter, depth sounder, speed log (works, needs updating). Broadwater 4-burner stove/oven/grill, custom built woodstove, Lavac head, Alcantara (Ultrasuede) upholstery, all mattresses made of layered, Easydry Foam and covered with Sunbrella. Full inventory and more information, history etc. on request.

Engine is Perkins 4.236 installed when boat was built. I would guess there's less than 8,000 hours on it. New oil cooler and hoses Nov. 2024, new Vetus exhaust system Nov 2024.
Borg Warner transmission 2.10 : 1 reduction, left hand 3 bladed propeller 20 in.dia 16" pitch.
Transmission taken out in 2023, checked, cleaned up and painted.
There are 2 copper (approx. 40 gallon) water tanks, one under each forward berth, and space for more tankage under the mid-ships berths.
The 2 fibre glass diesel tanks are located under cockpit each about 80 gallons, so about 160 gallons total.
Cabins: main cabin with quarter berth port side, seating niche around woodstove. Chart table to starboard. Settee on starboard side needs table to complete dining area.
Midships section has double cabin on port side and full size Pullman berth on starboard side;
Head (manual Lavac with Henderson MkV pump) and separate shower compartment to port and pantry and hanging locker to starboard;
Large forward cabin has extra long V-berth and forepeak/chain locker has stowage for fenders, dock lines, sails etc.
Windlass is a bronze Ideal Galleymaid, 30kg Bruce anchor with 50 feet 3/8" chain and 200 feet 1" nylon anchor rode.
U-shaped Galley: Italian 'Corian' type one and a half sinks with drainer, pressure fresh and saltwater pumps.
Broadwater 4 burner stove with oven and broiler, burners are cast stainless steel.
Athwartships counter of solid maple for chopping board. Space for refrigeration under temporary counter on port side of galley.
As mentioned in the ad, parts of the interior remain unfinished. Shower stall has been glassed and epoxied, needs finishing off (Awlgrip) and plumbing hooking up. Galley counter portside was not finished as refrigeration was not yet installed, and various places need mahogany trim. None of the above has stopped me using the boat, living aboard, even sailing to the Caribbean and back, as I complete a little at a time. There is an insulated box with a drain in the bridgedeck, which serves as an ice chest.
