Benford 34 junk rigged schooner for sale in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico
The Benford 34 is the design of Pete and Annie Hill's famous Badger. This boat was built in Quebec by a private party, sailed to Florida and Cuba, trucked to southern California, and bought by me and sailed down to Mexico. I have been keeping her in San Carlos and Guaymas, Sonora, on the northern mainland coast of the Sea of Cortez. The boat is built to Benford's specifications of epoxy and plywood, and sheathed in fiberglass. It has flat panel sails I constructed. A partial equipment list:
Volvo 30D engine with feathering prop on a saildrive - the engine has low hours - about 1000 I think but the meter is hard to read so I am estimating.
2 winches
2 VHF fixed station radios plus 2 or 3 handhelds
Raymarine chartplotter and radar
NMEA 2000 display for wind speed/direction, speed over ground, and depth
SIMRAD NAC3 VRF autopilot
Tiller steering (with Pelagic mechanical ram for use with the autopilot)
Electric windlass with remote and fixed controller near cockpit
2-burner propane cooktop with solonoid control system
2 separate battery systems, one for the autopilot or electric Torqueedo outboard, and one for radios, lights, regrigerator
Suzuki 4 hp 4-cycle gas outboard
Foldabote 10 foot dinghy
The boat has a rather utilitarian interior, functional but rather "plain."
The boat is in dry storage in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. I could meet seriously interested potential buyers in Guaymas if you want to see the boat, but it is a bit expensive for me to get there, so we should talk about the boat in advance.
