Affinity projects the best of American exceptionalism: Form and function in design, pride and skill in fabrication. All product plans of J.G. Alden Co. are now maintained at the Hart Nautical Museum of M.I.T. Digitized plans specific to Alden 4507 are included with the boat.

Affinity is hull no. 7 of the 8 Alden 43-45s designed by J.G. Alden in Boston and built by Alden Yachts in Portsmouth, RI, during the 1990s.The five 45-footers are at a pinnacle of both elegance and performance in 20th Century American yacht design.

The Niels Helleberg design replaced the older centerboard 44s. Affinity sails flatter and faster with a modern bulb-keel underbody and composite internal frame and hull structure, effectively obsoleting more-advertised and familiar downeast production yachts. Compare the ballast displacement ratio with alternatives! Materials and assembly technologies developed by J.G Alden also remain state-of-the-art for durability.

The boat has been lightly used, maintained to very high standards,and presents as being substantially new. The hull, decks and gelcoat are in near-perfect condition, as is the varnished teak trim. About 1580 hours on a strong Wester beke 63 Diesel. A variety of sails in excellent condition,including a fully battened in-boomfurling main and a new radial 95% furling jib with carbon fiber reaching strut for ease of sail handling.

The present owner hopes the pleasure he and his family have had with Affinity for 10 years will continue for years to come with another appreciative owner and family. Given Affinitys design, condition and provenance, some value appreciation is possible.
