Ground tackle, anchors, old electronics, spare tire same as the four on the trailer, two sets of sails, spare parts, backing plates, window/porthole gaskets. Interior is original factory finished. Two covered five gallon buckets of new anchor chain. I can't lift them and with the buckets I can move them by pulling out and placing a bucket at the end. Guessing 300lbs and 200'
I removed the rudder for safekeeping and wanted to do over and paint.
Builder: Nor'Sea Designer: Lyle Hess Dimensions LOA: 27' LWL: 26' Beam: 8 ft Displacement: 8100 lbs Draft: 3'10" Ballast: 3100 lbs solid lead Nor'Sea owners can take pride and comfort in knowing they are staking their safety on one-of the strongest hulls ever built. Nor'Sea ballast is all lead, not iron or iron punchings, or old engine parts. All lead cast in resin! Lead is much more dense than iron, resulting in a more stable, stiffer sailing boat. The Nor'Sea 27 deck and cabin top is immensely strong. It is of fiberglass and wood composite construction. The cabin top is 1 1/4" thick. The decks are 1" thick; and the cabin sides are 3/4" thick. The hull-deck joint is the most critical area on any fiberglass boat. Most low-cost boats are built with the hull and deck fastened by an aluminum "H" channel into which the fiberglass is secured by pop rivets or self-tapping screws. Some of the better boats use a combination of self-tapping screws with a bolt every 12" (a la Westsail) or every 24" (a la Valiant 40). Consistent with our "super heavy duty" philosophy, the Nor'Sea uses a 1/4" stainless steel bolt and an aircraft stainless steel self-locking nut every six inches. The Nor'Sea rudder is two layers of fiberglass surrounding a very high density (12 Lb.) foam core. It will withstand repeated hammer blows or minor groundings without significant damage. The rudder pintles and gudgeons are comprised of nearly 40 IBS. of high tensile manganese bronze. The three massive sets of pintles and gudgeons provide immense security when great stresses are imposed by heavy weather. The Nor'Sea tiller cheeks are mahogany, with a heavy stainless steel reinforcement. The tiller itself is 16 laminations of ash and mahogany. Nor'Sea's are designed to sail oceans! (And Yes. They do.)
