Description:
The 1971 Bristol 40 is a classic, Ted Hood designed blue-water cruising sailboat. Known for her timeless lines, traditional overhangs, and exceptional seakeeping, she features a narrow beam, a sweet sheer line, and a modified full keel. Today, these vessels are sought after by traditional sailors, typically valued between $40,000 and $55,000 depending on condition.

I've owned and sailed and moored her in La Cruz for 2 years and I'd like to move to a different Sailing grounds in the Atlantic. She's as near perfect condition as she could be for her age and I recently did the dirty work of refitting holding tank transfer valve sets and mascerator system. I'd estimate she's been totally refitted/re rigged about 3 times, maybe more. When I bought her the bottom had just been redone as you can see from the pictures. She ain't no old boat, just vintage "Classic" bones.

In the 2026 season we sailed her everywhere you can go in the Banaderas Bay, including all the races offered there; then South to Barra Navidad and back, and everywhere in between!

As of July 2026 I have "mothballed" her in the slip (all sails and inflatable Dingy stowed below and all canvas covers on Dodger and Combings in place) She's got a full cover Biminy over the cockpit with side shade covers and shes ready to reset for the 2027 season.

I know my price is low and it's not due to defects. The low price is a "I want to sell" price! If you want to see her and sea trial, we'd have wait until early December 2026 as I cannot leave my work until then. I could arrange for a showing earlier but you'd have to overlook all the sails and inflatable Dingy stowed in the Salon for Summer. If you want have a peek she's on Dock 9 slip A/28 La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

The boat name is "ARINAAR" she's a fully doccumented USCG Vessel and has current TIP good for another 9 years.

Boat re-doccumentation and costs are not included and with the help of a USA registered Broker we can guide you through the process for a legal transfer.

Equipment:
3-4 year old North Sails Main, roller furling Genowa, asymmetrical spinnaker in chute. All running rigging has been replaced over the past 2 years and there absolutely no "meathooks" on the standing rigging as I have been up the mast enough to know... Replaced the VHF antenna and Coax, re-directed the deck lighting and installed a new directional wind vane, so, good inspections first hand!

Refurbished/repainted Westerbeke 42B four diesel engine. and dripless bearing replaced with transmission fluid passive lubricated seal system.
including a complete factory emergency replacement parts kit and hoses

150' chain and 250' rode, custom double bow anchor roller and windless to match w/35# CQR - all in great shape. 100' of rode and stern anchor. (The rope side of the Windless is great to pull you up the mast!)

Monitor hydrovane with emergency tiller kit stowed

4 man self inflating life raft

5hp Mercury outboard completely refurbished and 2 man roll-up Dingy we brought down and used 1 season.

all new led lighting throughout. (red and white switchable fixtures)

Reach-in Refrigerator and enough Solar to run it and enough power left over for all the electronics you would need!
I will include in the sales price a new set of house batteries (3 ea) and 1 starter battery. (The batteries are approaching their 4th year in service and I noticed last season the Anchor Light began a bit of an overnight, lower than I'd like, voltage drop by morning.)

Perhaps my favorite feature is the new Bimini. We designed it to give full cockpit coverage with simple side curtains that clip-on with carabiners when necessary... The entire Bimini folds back and rolls up on itself so you can enjoy complete open air sailing and/or complete night sky views.

This is a walk on sail off boat, and more details are awaiting if you reach-out and ask! Hope to go for a
Sea Trial with you,
Captain Reiner - USCG 25T Master
