Description: |
Tartan Yachts builds superb sailboats well-known for their speed, beauty, comfort and strength. This 3500 is no exception. Built in 2002, she was designed to cruise the Bay, run to Bermuda, hop around the Caribbean islands, and explore the many anchorages of the Bahamas. We put the design to the test and she passed with flying colors.
Our blue-water adventures are now over and so, after many years and many miles of sailing, we are reluctantly listing Altair for sale.
I am a ASA certified sailing instructor and attended marine repair courses in Annapolis. I am also the recipient of an off-shore solo sailing award. Given this background, we have taken the best possible care of Altair. As a result, Altair is in exceptional shape and we continue to enjoy sailing and cruising throughout the summer and fall. She has too many upgrades and improvements to list.
A few highlights include:
-Hyrdovane (with many extra parts) -Exceptional Solar Power Generation (up to 20 amps in full sun) -Custom on-board fuel polishing system (powered by solar) -New Raymarine below deck Autopilot -Oversized Rocna Anchor (140 feet of chain) -Remote/wireless Anchor control (making single or short-handed anchoring a breeze) -Commercial Rated Life Raft (with static release) -Vesper AIS -Custom Reefing System -Folding Max Prop -New Cabin Sole (ordered direct from Tartan Factory in 2024) -Oversized and extra Halyards -New Standard Horizon VHF (Explorer Model) -Full Winter Cover -Oversized Racing Wheel -Extra Anchor (Bruce) -27-HP Yanmar runs beautifully (We have never had a single issue with the Engine) -Suzuki 2.5 HP Outboard (No Dingy) -Recent toerail varnish completed by the experts in Antigua
Before extended off-shore cruising, new owners will likely want to:
-Order a new suit of sails (Current sails are the original sails, still in good shape) -Inspect the standing rigging (Last inspected April 2025)
